A Simple Celebration

Everyone knows what confetti is. The colorful bits of paper that rain from the heavens at celebrations are fantastical and breath-taking to every child and can hold a sense of nostalgia and wonder for adults. It wasn't always like this though.
In the year 2020 BC, nobody knew what confetti was nor had they seen anything like it. Most hadn't heard of wizards either, which according to the Proclamation of Ignorance's 31st item the United Oppressive Dictatorships of Earth (All of Earth's governments are a part of this organization) don't want people to know about. In the dark year of 2020 BC, people rarely had parties because if they did an Alcazarian would show up and destroy the entire continent. Nobody wanted to be responsible for that so instead of gathering and partying they stayed huddled in fear in their hovels.
Until the day when brave Avaleona Bravon decided that she would have the biggest loudest party in the entire universe. This made the Alcazarians very angry and they
rushed over to the Earth and blew up the continent of Australia because it was being too loud and Alcazarians can't think when it is too loud. The daughter of Bravon had been vacationing in Europe and was distraught and held a touching funeral for her dead mother that no one attended for fear of upsetting the Alcazarians, but a large group of people who had lost friends and family in Australia gathered at her home afterward and the loud wailing could be heard galaxies away. It was just barely loud enough to disturb the Alcazarians who began traveling back to Earth to relieve the shrieking that was penatrating their sensitive ears. A local wizard heard the grieving and was worried about what might happen, so he gathered his wand and his coat and prepared to cast a spell that would reveal to the grievers the souls of the lost that were all around them. When the grievers saw the tiny lights gathered around them they all fell silent in awe. None of the people who saw the wizard's spell could feel as sad when they realized their loved ones were all around them and began to celebrate their loved ones lives instead of mourning for them, but they did so very quietly so that the Alcazarians, who were very confused as to the noises suddenly stopped, never made it to Earth.
